New Guidelines for Acute-Onset Hypertensive Crisis in Pregnancy Developed by ACOG

Guidelines for "Emergent Therapy for Acute-Onset, Severe Hypertension During Pregnancy and the Postpartum Period," are available from ACOG in the Committee Opinion (#623), dated February, 2015.

These guidelines list three separate protocols for management of the elevated pressure using one of three first line agents: labetalol, hydrazine and/or nifedipine.
